
SC CIC Director - Ryan Truskey
Ryan Truskey serves as the Director of SC CIC. In addition, Ryan is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for SLED, where he oversees the division’s cybersecurity strategies and technology infrastructure.
With a strong background in intrusion detection, incident response, and security management, Ryan has cultivated deep expertise in cybersecurity operations. His leadership of SC CIC has involved direct engagement with organizations spanning all critical infrastructure sectors, such as energy, healthcare, transportation, and government services. This broad engagement has provided Ryan and his team with a unique understanding of the evolving cybersecurity risks and challenges that impact communities across the state.
Ryan has also played a pivotal role in assisting the South Carolina National Guard and State Guard with incident response training, ensuring that military and state defense forces are equipped to handle cybersecurity threats effectively. His contributions in this area have enhanced the Guard's readiness to respond to a wide range of cyber incidents, further strengthening South Carolina's overall cybersecurity resilience.
Additionally, Ryan serves as the committee chair for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP), where he has been instrumental in securing and allocating funding for local government agencies to bolster their cybersecurity defenses. His leadership in the grant program has empowered local agencies across South Carolina to invest in advanced cybersecurity solutions, further enhancing the state's ability to mitigate cyber risks at the municipal level.
Ryan’s work has positioned him as a key figure in South Carolina's efforts to protect essential services and infrastructure from cyber threats. His strategic vision and hands-on experience make him a trusted advisor to both public and private sector organizations seeking to enhance their cybersecurity posture in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
SC CIC Deputy Director - Travis Ridgeway
Travis Ridgeway serves as the Deputy Director of SC CIC under the SC Law Enforcement Division. As a South Carolina native and Coast Guard Veteran, he is committed to protecting the critical infrastructure and citizens of South Carolina.
Upon graduating from Spring Valley High School class of 1996, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. Throughout his 23 years of honorable service, he held multiple positions including Command Master Chief, Command Center Supervisor, and Assistant Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). As a Command Center Supervisor, he oversaw the flawless execution of Search and Rescue, Counter-Narcotic, and Illegal Immigration Mission Coordination. Additionally, he was instrumental in building and strengthening partnerships within the Department of Homeland Security entities. During his tour in southeast Florida, he collectively worked with Customs and Border Protection and Border Patrol to increase intelligence collection and information sharing. Through these collaborative efforts, the flow of illegal narcotics and immigration were disrupted; thus, increasing the security of southeast Florida's ports, waterways, and coastal security posture. As an ISSO he was entrusted with ensuring the security and integrity of the unclassified and classified network systems.
As he began transitioning to the civilian sector, he pursued a B.S. in Networking and Cyber Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus. As a Summa Cum Laude graduate, he attained the necessary cybersecurity and IT skills to lead the program, as well as ensure an “All Threats and All Hazards” readiness posture.
Prior to his career with SC Law Enforcement Division, he served as a Manager of Network Services for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of SC. Throughout his tenure, he built a strong background in intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, other various network security systems, security management, and incident response. He gained a vast technical aptitude of Palo Alto security appliances, Cisco Next Gen Firewalls, F5 Application Security Managers, as well as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools. His technical acumen was instrumental in overseeing the security posture of a large enterprise network, while simultaneously meeting governance and compliance standards.
